Default Forum 'book club' ?

Hi all,

Don't know if this has been suggested before, apologies if it has.

I like reading fishing books as and when I have time, indeed I own a few - albeit in varying degrees of tuition / tales / history etc etc !

My wife has the patience of a saint but a book case full of angling literature in our sitting room is a step too far for her - Id rather stick to rods hidden under the floor boards than push her too much

I'm maybe proposing / suggesting that anyone else that likes to read every now and again could maybe list or 'register' a book somehow and, in turn, they get passed around. I am no librarian by any stretch but maybe there are a few who would be glad to share a read and if so we can get something up and running. Obviously postage etc would be a factor as (more importantly) trust would be. Im willing to give it a go if anyone else is and am open to suggestions / comments as to how best to work it should it appeal to some of you ?

If this falls on 'deaf ears' then so be it. If it proves to be constructive and worthwhile for a few like-minded folk I'd be happy to swap a book or two confident I would see them again at a later date.

Just a thought if nobody has mentioned similar before ?

Jon

Jon, the idea is good, but the management of it would be difficult to say the least. You'd be totally dependant on the honesty of the recipient &, whilst perhaps 75% would buy in to the process, the balance could make it one big headache.
Nice idea, but methinks no - sorry.
Not to say that likeminded people could pm one another & get something going, but the risks are still the same.

Postage will be the killer. Perversely it is probably cheaper to buy the book second hand from ebay or amazon using one of these companies that seem to be able to charge less than the actual postage whilst selling the book for 1p? I don't get how that works.....!
