Default Airflo fly line

I have a airflo C-7PT-DL-WF51-SR line that came as a spare with the rod I got.
Can anybody tell me what type of line etc it is. I have looked on the net but couldn't find any info.

Sorry I can't help, why do they give all these numbers and letters to describe a line ? If it's a sinker/intermediate it's probably a good line, but going by hundreds of posts on here if it's a floater, bin it. Good luck.

Are you sure it's WF51?

If it actually says WF5I it might suggest that it's a weight forward 5 intermediate.

Just to add to Taterdu's post could the SR stand for Sink Rate?

Weight Forward 5 Intermediate Sink Rate.

Just a guess

That's exactly what it stands for, well almost. I am sure it is 1 as opposed to I. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being the slowest sinker and 10 the quickest. May be wrong, though.

That's a touch 'extreme'.

I've used Airflo lines from slow intermediate through to DI7 for a number of years and they have been excellent. Historically, there have been issues with some of Airflo's floating lines but you would be missing a trick to discount their entire line based upon heresay.

Airflo do have a bit of a "reputation" with some anglers regarding the floating range that they distribute. However, the sinking range, including their budget lines, do exactly what it says on the box. I've never experienced an issue with the sinkers.

amazing the number of participants - in any field - who can dismiss a mega-company, with a huge R&D budget, with their words of wisdow based on a few seasons usage -- if that.!

@daved: This is a very old 'coil' code - an unboxed fly line. It is at least 15 maybe 20+ years old.

It's a WF5 Delta taper. SR is a reference to the colour (sunrise). Assume it is a bright colour? If that is the case it is definitely a floater.

Due to the age it is probably like a slinky, and that first generation of Airflo lines was not a patch on today's which now use totally different cores and polymers. So probably one for the bin.
