I believe that mags that don't sell.have the front cover ripped off.and that's sent back to the distributor.for the refund.the rest of the mag is just sent out in the paper recycling bin.

February T&S dropped through the letterbox today. There is a 2-page article (pp 52-53) by Andrew Graham-Stewart, basically condemning the Jaffa piece, while 'Letters' features a whole page of responses to the Jaffa piece.

Yes, a bit of balance-redressing there.
I am in a similar boat workwise to the T&S editor - the slowness of the printed copy vs. the instant response of the internet. That's why I always cut the periodicals some slack.

On a related note - Jaffa lives close to me in central Manchester.

Unless it's a state execution, obituaries don't have planned dates of publication......

Tesco's don't buy the magazines as far as I'm aware.

On the case in point, I am fully with Capn F on T&S (I also pen the occasional copy for it). The Jaffa article would be planned whereas The obitury would have been as soon as they could.

I really don't beleive Andrew Flitcroft would have given it a second thought in terms of disrespect; and here, I suggest, is the rub. Do we want to live in some pathetic snowflake echo chamber where we are afraid to read views we don't like? Should T&S be some sort of Safe Space? Put the contra view up, I suggest, and critique.

On the issue of sub-plots, you can purchase T&S at W H Smiths at Liverpool Street Station, but not at either branch of WHS in Waterloo Station. And to cast further gasoline on said fire of uncertainty, you can buy T&S in WHS at HRow T5 but not WHS at the airport formerly known as Turnhouse. Needless to say Carp Porn - Readers' Rudd etc is omnipresent at all outlets.

Yours aye

It was only a few years ago that 'Trout and Salmon' and 'Fish Farming International' were stablemates at EMAP publications.
