I saw a blackbird trying to defend its hawthorn berries from 3 fieldfares. no chance.

2 years back, during December I had about half a dozen Bramblings visiting the garden next door, there were "dock" plants that were standing about 3' high covered in seeds & the birds were regularly visiting to feast. Sadly, Resolva/Roundup or some such weedkiller put pay to another visitation. Lovely interesting birds.

I had 7 gold finches and a coal tit this morning, the photo of the phone wasn't worth uploading unfortunately.
I also had 9 goldies through the week, i put niger seed in the feeder for the goldies and there now regular visitors.
I also had a visit from 12/14 wax wings last year.
I've got my dslr camera ready I'll post a photo of the gold finches over the next 2/3 days.

As luck would have it I've not had the same numbers since posting above, I also can't get a decent photo with the dslr as soon as I go near the open window there off!
