  1. Seoint, Wales

It was a cold, miserable and rainy day. I sat in the small cottage that i had rented. Looking out longingly, towards the Seiont that lay at the bottom of the garden. It was the first time that i had tried my hand at Salmon fishing and i was craving my first salmon. I had tried fishing the river a couple of times a few days before, but had no success.

However today the cold, damp weather cleared and i seized the oppurtunity to sneak out for a quick fish. Earlier that day i had decided ...

  2. A day with JP on the Wye

When a text came through from Dave Percivel the erstwhile head river keeper of arguably the best bit of river Derbyshire has to offer. I was hoping when i opened the text it would be an invite to a day on the river. Thankfully when i did…….. it was! A phone call to Fish on's JP and the day was arranged.

We met Dave in the Cafe and started the day in traditional fashion with a full English…….. Very nice it was too. Bellies full we set out for the river. On arrival i could see the ...

Another visit to Linlithgow, this time caused by Crosswood closing and us having to find another venue at short notice.

It was an overcast day, warm with a light breeze.

The weed is well up at this time of the year meaning the fishing is concentrated into an area about half of Town Bay.

We moved to the clear water about 40 yards from the harbour and I covered a rising fish on my third cast which took the Dave's Damsel but got off after a short ...

The season got off to a good start with better than expected weather. It was overcast but the rain stayed off for the most part and the wind wasn't as bad as predicted apart from a short gusty spell in the early afternoon.

Fish were taken all over the Loch but we caught most of ours at the far end of the Loch.

All the spooned fish were full of small black buzzers all though one spat at an inch and a half fry when chapped.

    The most ...
