    Default Vision float tube

    Hi ,

I have been looking at this float tube from GAC https://www.fishingmegastore.com/vis...mbo~12516.html

Does anybody have any experience with this tube ? It is going to be my first one so I have no benchmark or experience.

    Cheers G

For a bit of extra cash you can get the guideline drifter which is an awesome tube. Don't buy a 'package' as the Fins are **** and pumps are very cheap

Why are the drifter fins no good? Which do you recommend? Thanks.

I think that is a lot of money for what is essentially an entry level lightweight float tube. Consider the snowbee, Ron Thomson and various other generic options for essentially the same tube at a lot less money.

I have the Snowbee and at 10lb it is ideal for carrying in to remote lochs. If you are launching at the car, the heavier more solid tubes like the guideline or Fatcats might be more your thing.

Whatever way you go you will want to get a decent pair of fins. The ones supplied with the kits are terrible., and you can pick up a cheap pump at any camping store.

Edit....sorry that last paragraph just repeats what jlaraway said.

This tube looks like the exact same design as the Ron Thompson tube which retails at half the price.
I bought one of these last year and it does me just fine - used at least once a week.
Only difference I can see between them is that you get a pump for the extra 130.
Would recommend the Ron Thompson .

I'm a chunky monkey and tried a few tubes out before settling on the guideline, the others like the Shakespeare and Ron Thomson felt unsafe for me as I was very low in the water, the snowbee was better but the guideline was brilliant, It keeps you out the water instead of sitting in it and i found it easier to manoeuvre, just felt at a different level to the others and safer, that let me enjoy the fishing more and I was all over lochs instead of sticking to the margins.

Fins that come with them are rubbish, have a good read on float tube threads and see what others are using, I had force flippers which cost a few quid but really good, there will be similar a lot cheaper now I think, I sold up a few years ago now so things will have moved on.
