Re: Boat seat
The rutland boat seat is the lightest one I've had 6kg but the airflo non swivel is comfier imo although a little bit heavier 7.2kg.
The airflo swivel type is ridiculously heavy at 12.5kg
There's also the option of buying a bucket seat and a swivel from ebay £50 probably the best vfm if you can get a decent fixing to the boat.
The clamp tends to slip if you can't get a turn buckle or ratchet strap under the seat like on moulded boats.

Re: Boat seat
So you recommend the TLD type seat & reckon it's good to buy the parts on line separate to configure?.

There are quite a few threads on the subject if you scroll down this section.
A few ideas in this one, just for example...
Boat seat arrangements...

Re: Boat seat
Yes I think that is the best value for money £50 and far comfier than the airflo tld.
That said if you can afford it then captain fishy,s is what I'd describe as the luxury model, I spent a small fortune copying it only to find it wasn't suitable for me having trapped nerves in my back.
Where in the country are you?

Re: Boat seat
Try this :fix a rectangular piece of ply with four elongated holes/slots in it to one side of the swivel. Fix the swivel to the underside of the seat (seat already have the holes in its plastic frame) Then use ratchet straps through the slots you made in the ply to fix to the thwart board. I've been using this setup for a number of years , Iv'e a boat on Usk res , and it is very comfortable and secure and obviously with the swivel you can face where you want, Its very similar to the TLD set up but more secure and a lot cheaper.

Re: Boat seat
Sound similar to these sorts of ideas...
Most of the Lomond boys have similar. Mostly they don't even bother with ratchet straps - they just tie a strap or use a Velcro strap. Some don't even bother with straps - they just mount the seat on a bit of wood, maybe with a rubber anti-slip undersurface - and sit on it!
