Do you mean McGruers of Clynder by Helensburgh ? I knew them very well around this period, from the mid eighties till 20 years ago, their work was superb, all the marine woods used in Scotland came through me from Gilmour and Aitken, all up the west coast area, I looked after the orders and rationed loads as some items would take months for me to select the correct items, only one friend a naval architect David Spy (Rhu) would get my undivided service.

My other dear friend Angus McFadyen whom I would select larch logs for, split into planks, re band into log form and save indoors to dry for at least a year until he was ready, has passed also, he built these boats for Lomond fishermen at his Milton of Buchannan Yard.

Think I would still have a half and half, base would be a Sweeney shell with hardwood seats, knees and gunnels.
