Default When to let out line when double hauling?

I'm new to the forum and to double hauling. My question is... when should I let out line when double hauling? At the moment I am letting line out at both hauls (if that makes sense) and don't know whether this is the right thing to do, if it is, should I be doing it on the final cast out as well, as when I do the leader seems to loose power and I don't get a nice presentation. I have done quite a lot of searching for the answer, but not found much info.

Generally the haul is returned, starting with hands together - haul - return - ready for next haul.

Do you mean shooting line into the haul? to lengthen the line sort of thing?

Yes that's what I mean. Do I release a little line at each haul including the final cast or not at the final cast.

I tend, if I'm not in a rush, to just extend line after the forward haul. Especially if I'm not after distance but just tight loops and precision. Benefit of hauling in the front cast is the visual indication of length.

My final delivery, either distance or precision, i not let line out after the last backwards haul. I just want everything as thight and straight as possible to give the line time to straighten out high. Then drift back while the pesky gravity is pulling my line down and then i give it someWhen to let out line when double hauling?.

There is no set rules you can let out line both directions as long as you maintain tension.

You can feed line as the line extends behind you but only if you have built up enough momentum in the line beforehand otherwise it will end in tears.

I let line out whenever I feel I can without loosing line tension, most goes into the back cast because I think its easier to smoothly handle the extra weight on the way forward if that makes sense.

The final cast is whatever is required, usually just let go and let the line shoot(it tells you when it wants to go) but there are times, into wind for example if you can't get the leader to turn over, you can make the haul and hold it.
