Default Donald MacDonald Memorial Day Charity Fly Fishing Event

    Hi All,

I have not been on here for a while.

Let me introduce myself , my name is Kevin Wilson and my 12 year old daughter Siobhan has organised a MacMillan Cancer Coffee Morning for the last 2 years after we lost a very close family friend Donald MacDonald to this horrible disease in 2015.

In the first year 2016 she managed to raise 575.00 between the coffee morning, a raffle and me doing car washes on the day outside the house.

Last year 2017 she managed to raise 960.00 as we had a much bigger raffle with better prizes and we managed to wash 15 cars.

In 2018 we are now looking to host 2 Donald MacDonald Memorial Day Fly Fishing events and a MacMillan Cancer Coffee Morning with the proceeds of all three events going to MacMillan Cancer Support.

At the end of last year I attended a fly fishing charity day event at Cloybank which is a fishery that I am a member of, I spoke with the owner of the fishery John Penman and asked if I could do something in 2018 to go with the other things that we are doing to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and he has agreed to give us use of the fishery for a charity day which we will do Sept / Oct 2018 and will be for between 15 / 20 people fly fishing.

The same day I met and spoke with Jimmy Feeney from Carron Valley Fishery and he has also agreed to host a charity day at Carron Valley, this will be for 50 people fly fishing and will take place in April / May 2018 and we have also agreed on this becoming an annual event at Carron Valley supporting us raising money for MacMillan Cancer.

I am now trying to get as many fantastic prizes as possible to use for the raffle on the day and to offer as prizes for the winner etc, the event that I attended had a rod, reel and fly line for the winner along with other fly rods, reels, lines, flies fishing tackle and various different fisheries offering day tickets etc which really helps with prizes.

I have contacted Mike Kernan from the Scottish Sun Newspaper and he has agreed to support the event and run an artical in the Sun newspaper.

I will hopefully give the companies supporting us advertising in news papers and also fly fishing magazines leading up to the event as well as being mentioned on the day of the event.

I spoke with Paul Young from the tv show Hooked on Fishing who has kindly said that he will attend the event at Carron Valley subject to dates as the date is yet to be confirmed but should be decided within the next week, I work for the Scottish Ambulance Service and I have advertised this event within the Ambulance Service facebook page with very positive feedback from many anglers within the service with many of them willing to travel some distance to be part of the day.

Could anyone please help with a raffle prize?
