I,ve seen tench of around 4 pounds being caught on the Forth and Clyde at the Firhill basin, just behind Partick Thistle's ground. Not the most picturesque but easily accessible.

Perhaps the most obvious is overlooked,

Google "Tench Pond Milngavie",,,,,,,,,,,,but yes Firhill basin is good, go early.

Lower sections of my local water The Endrick have good coarse fish.

And if you fancy a trip the Ponds next to the Carrick Golf club, look on google earth for this one. It was a sand pit in its day at Midross Farm where the ferry went over to Inchmurrin. Lots of the Scottish coarse guys stocked tem with all sorts, this is next to the Fruin at Netheross farm

I've no idea who runs it these days, but way back in time, Humbie Reservoir near Winchburgh had tench in it. I think the club that ran it as a trout fishery introduced them to help keep the water clean.

This is one of the reasons Loch Lomond is now full of alien coarse fish.
