I would like to sincerely thank everyone that came out, participated, and helped to make this year's events such an outstanding success. I'd also like to thank all of the companies and individuals that donated such terrific items for this year's auction, and especially those who bid so generously on these items (it certainly provided some great entertainment). This year's registration and auction was by all account an outstanding success that raised an incredible amount of money for B.C.'s Children's Hospital (well over $27,000.00). For that fact alone, you should all be very proud to have been a part of this event!

Here are the official results...

Additional Details and Statistics:
Number of sessions: 5 sessions (3 hours per session)
Number of competitors: 50 competitors (10 teams)
Total number of fish caught & released: 912 rainbow trout
Most fish recorded after 5 sessions: Todd Oishi - 37 fish
Largest fish of the championship: Mike Ohata - 47.0 cm

Tunkwa Lake Statistics:
Number of fish recorded at Tunkwa Lake: 37 fish (1 session)
Most fish recorded in a single session at Tunkwa Lake: Terence Courtoreille and Darin Benoit - 3 fish each
Largest fish recorded at Tunkwa Lake: Mike Ohata - 47.0 cm

Trojan Pond Statistics:
Number of fish recorded at Trojan Pond: 875 fish (4 sessions)
Most fish recorded in a single session at Trojan Pond: Todd Oishi - 18 fish
Largest fish recorded at Trojan Pond: Ernie Kalwa - 46.6 cm

The Mr. Congeniality Award goes to Mike Ohata for being a great boat operator and holding the record for being the only boat to remain blank-free for 2 consecutive years (2012 and 2013), as both Mike and all 10 of his passengers have never blanked fishing while in his boat. Now that's what I call being a GREAT host!!

The competition venues for next year's 2014 North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships remain the same, with the tentative dates being: June 25 – 28, 2014. I hope to see a few more international teams coming out and participating at next year's event!

Cheers,
Todd Oishi

I'd love to see a team or two from the U.K. come over and participate at the North American Championships. All teams (including international teams) are eligible for team and individual medals, awards, and prizes. I'd be happy to help make the necessary arrangements and guide you through the process, and bring you and any other individuals and teams up to speed on the venues.

Individual registrants are also welcome, and can be placed on existing teams that would be happy to host those who are interested in attending next year's North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships. There are accommodations (cabins and chalets) right on Tunkwa Lake or in the nearby town of Logan Lake. We're also able to provide shuttle services to help interested parties avoiding having to rent vehicles during their stay.

The competition venues for next year's 2014 North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships will Tunkwa Lake and the Trojan Pond, with the tentative dates being: June 25 – 28, 2014 (the dates of the Canadian NFFC and WFFC being a major factor). There will be five, 3-hour sessions held over a period of 3 days.

Picturesque Tunkwa Lake is world famous for it's extra large Kamloops Rainbow trout (trophy fish up to 10 pounds are caught each year). And, because of the abundance and size of these trout, Tunkwa Lake was chosen as a venue lake for the 1993 World Fly Fishing Championships.

Cheers,
Todd Oishi
Head Organizer of the North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships
