Default scottish 999 comp 2013 postponed

    Hi All,

Due to personal reasons (recent divorce and all the hassle that entails)there will be no 999 comp this year and loss off major sponsor (I funded personally last year) and the reduction in charitable donations although we were extremely grateful for all we received .I had to take the decision it was too much for me to do this year and I propose delaying it and possibly bringing the 2014 one forward if my fundraising I have in my thoughts pans out well .
It will return even if reduced prizes and I hope everyone who has donated/supported will continue to do so next year. Thanks to everyone who helped over last 8 yrs and hopefully a few new supporters to keep this afloat.
You may have noticed I'm not around on here as much as said difficult year for me and not over yet few big decisions to be made and where im going to be but once settled I'll be back around please respect my privacy at this time and tight lines to you all fishing has been a godsend for me and I am happiest around the river clyde just now even blanking which I seemingly excell at lol .

    Yours Pete

Really sorry to hear that Pete. I will make it up North one of these years to take part! If you could manage to hold it at Lochter then I even have a place to stay!!

As you know, I organise the Welsh version of this event. We hold ours on large reservoirs and fish Loch Style from boats. I charge 40 per person entry fee which includes day ticket, boat hire and evening meal and we are usually able to provide a prize table valued at around 500 from left over entry fees. We organise a raffle and auction at the end of the event with all proceeds going to charity. I find people are more likely to donate to charity than donate prizes for the anglers.

40 is still cheap for a competition entry and I even had to turn people away this year due to all the boats selling out. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that you don't need a sponsor to make a success of these comps. Prizes are nice but that's not why the majority of my anglers enter - holding the trophy and bragging rights for 12 months is far more valuable than a fly line or fly box.

You know where I am if you need to discuss and remember we're always looking for Paramedics in Mid Wales you can hit water from your mess room arm chair at most Powys Ambulance Stations.!!

I know where ur coming from Gareth but this is a give back to the fine people who give a wee bit extra to their communities My ethos was to have a free gift for all and a free raffle I am not against a donation at end for a charity like LTC we nearly all bring a prize anyway and I have over the years had huge generosity from people on here and companies but the way of the world has changed ,not gave up mostly due to where I am in my life just now its been tough last couple of yrs or more if truth be told, but I'm rounding the corner and have a very supportive partner who actually sometimes comes to watch me fishing she enjoys her wine and book mind you lol .Just need to move house now and the book is closed thank **** I will be back and will enjoy your welsh comp one day
