    Default English river qualifiers.

Appleby AA are hosting these this weekend, I went for a walk down the river at lunchtime to meet up with the organiser Ben Thompson of the Angling Trust.
Conditions were as you can imagine awful for fishing.
River is extremely low, it was about 26c and bright sunshine.
Met up with Howard Croston from Hardy, and Steve Cullen of Wychwood fame.
A few small fish had been caught with several of qualifying length 20cm.
I didnít envy them at all, fully kitted out in waders vests hats and carrying two rods with another two set up on the bank, they must have been melting.

Sit still and watch the river, it's all a part of fishing, oh and never trust a man in sandals.

Is there a dress code at such events? I was happy to fish in shorts and Crocks today. Waders would have been melting and a distraction from the job in hand.
    Growing old disgracefully!

No, I think some of them wet waded earlier, I was sweating just watching from the bank.

Most had three or four rods set up and kept in what looked like home made rod carriers.
One thing I did notice was a good few of them were using the Vivarelli auto reels.
