Well done Cammy - that's a fantastic result!
It was my first final & I really enjoyed the day, a fantastic & really well run event with a really friendly & (mostly) not too competitive anglers!
Everyone was really friendly & sharing flies/methods/areas both in practice & on the day. During the changeover at lunchtime Anthony (the eventual winner) openly told me what/ where/how he caught his fish from the boat in the morning session!

I went with low expectations but set myself a target to catch in both sessions - turned out I did ok - 10 fish in the morning session for the section win and a couple in the boat in the afternoon giving me 7th place!

Congratulations to everyone who qualified & a big shout out to the gang at Trout Fisherman & of course to Ifor & the team at Draycote for running the event so cleanly & efficiently!

Well done Lads - great fishing.
What tactics did ye use to get the fish.?

Well done to both of you.to be in the top ten is brilliant but to get into the top 3 even better.

It was my third foray into the Competition. Although I was nowhere near the top finishers I didn't blank so I was please with that. I actually did better in the practice. I managed 7 to the boat and 4 to the bank. I make no secret that I'm a small stillwater angler so Draycote is something way out of my comfort zone. On the plus side 3 days fishing wherever it is great and you always learn something
i would like to agree with you but then we would both be wrong...

Hiya Mackiia - various methods worked, the standard Draycote method of pulling snakes was employed by many anglers.
Most of my bank fish came to a peach blob on the top dropper & PTN on the middle dropper fished on a fastish inter. The last couple from the bank came on a black mini snake (same line),
One chap (in section 1) caught 14 from the bank by swinging diawl bachs around in the breeze - very impressive for 3 hr session!

My boat fish again came to black mini snakes on the fast glass, my boat partner caught a couple on pink snakes fished on a sink tip,

    Cheers

I fished the troutmasters final and can only say it was an excellent event and a fantastic experience. Ifor Jones and his marshals did a great job of seamlessly running the event.
I fished section 1 in the morning and had planned to fish the method I am happiest with (lures on a Slow intermediate). However, I asked the marshal how he would fish it and he advised me that small Diawl Bachs and crunchers would be his choice. It was his advice that led me to catching my 13 fish letting the nymphs drift under a floating line. Although I tried my lure rod for 30 minutes I had no pulls on that set up.
Unfortunately my boat session didn’t go quite so well, I am a novice regarding boat fishing and due to the wind the 1 anchor was not sufficient to hold the places we tried to fish in the first 2hrs 30 minutes. I was fishless until we finally managed to find a place where the anchor could hold at 4pm. I caught my first fish at 4.10 my second at 4.20 then lost a double hook up the next cast lol (all on my lure rod).
I was pleased to have avoided the dreaded blank but disappointed that we hadn’t found the fish earlier lol.
However, my aim was not to blank and to catch a fish in each session so I am extremely pleased and surprised to have finished 10th.
I must say well done to Ant Meadows who thoroughly deserved his win. I briefly spoke to him Sunday and he seemed a very nice guy. Also well done to ‘jack russell’ and ‘cammy’.
I can only hope that I am lucky enough to fish the final again as it was a superb experience and this was due to all the help I received from fellow competitors, anglers and fishery staff who provided excellent advice.

Hiya adespin - well done on youre result - especially the morning bank session - top angling indeed! sounds like it was you I heard about in zone 1 catching on Diawl Bach's - it's just that "rumour control" had given you an extra fish!
It's true; it was quite windy in the afternoon - I'm a drifter so didn't employ the anchor, I noticed that Iain Barr didn't even use a drogue!
