Re: Stakes & faggot bundles
No wonder you’re nervous... a small typo and you get Joan of ACW...
Thank you all for the excellent suggestions. I will investigate further. I think we could do with a little live willow to give us more easy material to coppice ourselves.Fishing is sometimes the best way to cast aside life's stresses. Sometimes it's simply the cause.

Re: Stakes & faggot bundles
Hi Richard,
I've learnt 'the long way round' that if stakes / faggots are deteriorating it's probably because they are slightly in the wrong place or there isn't enough sunlight. Ideally faggot bundles and posts should disappear within a year or three under silt and vegetation. If they are not quite in the right spot the silt won't accumulate and / or it might be too shady for consolidation. I now prefer to use tree-limbs (alder, untrimmed) as big and long as poss. You'll need only four posts to anchor one long branch, the edge it creates looks very natural and is also very porous, meaning silt gets in and then drops out in the space behind. Lasts for ever. Miles cheaper too.

Yes I don't know many keepers who use faggot bundles anymore - very 1990's!
As accidental says, just drop a few trees in.

If you start dropping trees in you will need your local EAs approval. My understanding is anybwork needs their approval.
