For your first trip I think it is important to go with a guide.
At first it is not easy to see the fish.

I remember a trip to Acklins Island in the Bahamas with some friends who were very experienced trout fishermen but it was their first time for bones.
I had been on a large number of trips.
We were wading slowly over a flat when I said to my friends "Stop there is a scholl of about 100 bonefish just in front of us". They could see nothing so I said what the hell and let one of them cast. He cast right into the middle of the school. We were in very shallow water and it exploded as the fish spooked.
By the end of the week they could see the fish much better.

My advice is go with a guide or someone with experience as at first the fish are not easy to see.
