Default One for the Yorkshire Dales experts

I am trying to put together a week long fishing trip to the Dales for mid May, based on rivers that are available on a day ticket. Ideally I am thinking of no more than three different locations to stay at. The only place that I have in mind so far is the Falcon Inn at Arncliffe (stopped for a beer there last summer... loved it!), which I know has its own fishing on the Skirfare. I have found Stuart Minnikin's excellent website, which is really helpful, but I would really appreciate if anyone with local experience could suggest a couple more locations to base myself.

    Many thanks,
    John

Have a look at the Bradford angling Association, membership is 50.00 loads of nice water to fish . Better value than buying day tickets for a week.

Be aware there are two Bradford clubs - Bradford City AA and Bradford no 1 AA. Membership for both us around the 60 mark including a joining fee for both clubs. City has rather more fly waters than No 1. Worth looking at both clubs' websites before joining one or other.

Have a night at the Riverside Inn in Ilkley . It will minimise your travel to/from Arncliffe . It’s a pub hotel right on the river Wharfe . From there you can buy a ticket to fish the Ilkley section of the Wharfe . Upstream you can buy tickets for Addingham, then the more expensive Bolton Abbey and Appletreewick and Burnsall beats . Ilkley is a great town to stay in .

You can buy day tickets for the Swale at Richmond from local outlets , check out the Richmond AC website .

One more for the Riverside - a nice pub. You may find the Ilkley stretch of the Wharfe a bit busy with walkers at the weekend, but it's fine during the week. If you plump for Ilkley drop me a message and I'll put you in touch with one of the committee members.

There's also the Red Lion stretch at Burnsall. A little expensive, but lovely water.

As OMW says, Swale is good, suggest stay at the Bridge at Grinton, good and adjacent to the river, landlord very knowledgeable and sells tickets. Also, bailiff tends to call in each day, good for advice.
