Yeah fair enough; I assumed that Jacquard’s Hot Fuchsia wasn’t fluorescent because it isn’t listed as such on their webpage, but my choice of words should have been better. Apologies if I misled anybody for the few minutes it took before I saw and corrected my error.

Anyway great to see you back on the forum Alex, I hope that this isn’t just a fleeting visit.

Finally got the chance to experiment on this. This is as close as I have got so far using natural wool (that Glowbug stuff is something synthetic).

50gn wool
1.5 litres distilled water
1gn fluorescent yellow - Veniards
0.3gn hot fuchsia - Jacquards

Not bad at all. So, that is 10:3, with sunburst at 15:1. Kind of a deeper tint. Maybe same proportions but less dye?

For comparison, my sunburst capes & deer hair were:

3 pints water (good old Scottish tap water - soft as a baby's bum )
0.9 g EBEST Fluorescent Yellow 8GX
0.06 g Jacquard Hot Fuchsia

I think that the weak solution is the key. You have to adjust the strength depending on the amount/type of material you are dyeing while keeping the proportion the same, which is a pain. I needed 3x the amount of dye for an Indian cock cape which is currently drying.

I'll make a note of that sunburst recipe
