    Default Peach vs Sunburst???

I've been getting back into dyeing, after many years away, thanks mainly to inspiration from Wee Jimmy. Since last I was doing it, some new hues have entered our vocabulary... I've just about got on top of WOIGO, and I've got some good orangey sunburst results. But where does peach fit in??? Orkney peach, for all that??? I know Orkney peach is 50:50 Globrite 7 and 8. But is that any different to an orangey sunburst? And, if peach has a bit of pink in it, compared to sunburst, well... my bestest orangey sunburst results were achieved using only fluoro yellow and pure magenta (pure pink!). So, where does that leave room to move??? What is peach???

Not quite there with it, Phil. I dug out my old 'Glow-bug' yarns and fluorescent wools. The cape and deer hair I have dyed orangey sunburst are on the orange side of of 'arc-chrome' or 'chrome yellow' - which is exactly what I was aiming for, so that one is in the bag. (It's near enough 'Orkney peach'.) However, the wool I used to use back in the day for the peach doll was Glow-bug Apricot. When I compare that to what I have dyed, it is totally different. It has much more pink in it. So, the question is, how to achieve 'Apricot' (or 'Peach'), when using pure yellow and pure magenta (pink) gives me a scale from yellow to orange?

Possibility... reduce quantity of yellow and dye yellow first. Then over-dye in magenta until peach is achieved. Maybees??? Alternatively, slightly increase quantity of magenta and dye in that first, until pale pink is achieved. Then over-dye with yellow until peach is achieved. Maybees??? I am thinking it should be doable using just yellow and magenta in some combo???

Managed to find this tucked away in a draw....

It's a pretty delicate colour, have you tried a weaker bath? Over-dyeing could be the way to go like you say. I'll have a mess about later this week if I get the chance and you don't beat me to it!

Yep - that is the exact same stuff I am referring to above. I haven't tried anything yet. I'm still trying to get my head around it. Feel free to experiment - I won't be doing any more dyeing for a while. I'm transitioning into getting geared-up for a bash at loch salmon and sea trout next month... flies to tie... lots of preparation to do...

    Cheers,

You could try fuchsia or rhodamine red; depending on which line of dyes you use.

Yeah, I thought that but assumed that Col wanted fluorescent.

I know that Jacquard do a fuchsia that isn’t fluorescent, in fact I am not sure that they do any fluorescents. Whose dyes are you referring to?
