This fishery was formerly known as Beamish Lakes. A second lake opened in 2010.

Now known as South Causey Lakes....

Joe Forster is the man behind the new lakes, with the second one now much larger than pictured.

Had 3 hrs there this morning, fished the Pearl Pinkie and the Original pinkie, had plenty of pulls, but only converted the one to the net. Will be back later this week.

New lake to open in approx 2 weeks, with a bumper stocking.

Well I'm very sadened to inform people that south Causey is being closed
As from 22 nd aug there's bait fishing and on the 31st aug it closes for good
Which is a shame as Joe has built the fishery up to a first class venue
I've no idear what joes next venture is but I wish him all the very best
He's a top bloke and turned the fishery round in 6 months
To a top class venue .

You are dead right about Joe. He is a top, top bloke and a very good fly angler to boot. He has done so much work there from developing the lakes to installing new facilities and it is a real kick in the teeth for him. I only hope that the owner of the lakes and the Hotel South Causey: SOUTH CAUSEY LAKES
gets what he deserves and I and a good few others will be more than willing to make sure it happens. The previous leasee of the fishery had exactly the same problems with the owner and he had to walk as well. Does anyone think there is a common denominator here? I have had one confrontation with the owner and he is a really nasty piece of meat.
Hope you get sorted Joe.

I don't know what the background story is here but whatever has gone on, it's a real shame.

I've only been there a couple of times but Joe was very welcoming and helpful, even providing a few of his own flies when we were struggling.
