Hi Noel

I've never fished it but I did pop in a few weeks ago just to see what it is like.

Have you been? It's very compact and seems quite tight for space. If busy it could be quite dangerous to wander about I expect, although there appears to be a few footpaths leading to and from the lakes.

That said, there is also the hotel (and a field full of deer) that could possibly distract your guests.

There's also a small hut up near the Lakes that might provide some seating/shelter.

Not sure if this helps?

I was down Knitsley Mill last night, a mate of mine was on a evening sporting ticket, (4pm till dusk) 10.

Under a new outfit now, & it has just been stocked last week. They are doing a lot of work at the moment, cleaning up the ponds etc, & are doing a decent job.

BF.

thats good to hear, it has a lot of potential and used to be fantastic sport of an evening, lets hope it gets back to its former glory, p.s. you dont happen to know who's running the show now do you ?

hi there,

my name is john shield, me and my good friend billy thompson are running the fishery now. we have cleared the weed out of the bottom pond and tidied up all around. it gets stocked every thursday from invicta in dumfries and the fish range from 2.5lb to 12lb. we are having competitions on once a month and there is a tagged fish up to about 35 now. the first week it fished really well and then slowed up a bit after the second stocking. the fish have been deep through the day and dry flies work well on a night time. good fish caught yesterday by colin harris from whickham about 10lb on a di7 sinking line and pink bloodworm.

if you have any questions dont hesitate to contact either myself on 07900244413 or billy on 07960747417

regards John Shield

Good luck John and Billy with the new venture. Knitsley has a good catchment area for fly anglers and if you supply the local anglers with want they want at the right price, I'm sure it will be a great success. Some photos I took earlier this year.
