Default Balderhead Co Durham.

Hi all, just wondered if anyone has fished Balderhead this season? I`m planning a trip ut there tomorrow and wondered if anyone could tip me off with some tactics, areas etc. Do you reckon it`s still a bit early in the season?

Any help greatly appreciated,
Jay.

I think it might be lovely but lonely there this weekend!

Only a handfull of anglers out so far this season.

I would certainly try a black and peacock spider. I may go to Cow Green - wonderful but will be cool! The nesting birds up there at this time of year are amazing.

Here's the report for last week.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Fishery: Cow Green/Balderhead/Selset

Weekending: 09/04/10

Number of anglers - week Cow Green 2
Selset Closed
Balderhead 3

Total number of anglers to date All sites 5
Total number of Browns caught to date All sites 14
Seasonal rod average All sites 2.8

Hi all.

I have been fishing Cow Green recently but am considering a change of scenery for my next trip out and was thinking of giving Balderhead a go.

Has anyone fished there recently?
If so any advice or comments would be appreciated.

How does the stock of fish compare to Cow Green?
How is it fishing at the moment?
Can I only purchase the day ticket from Grassholme?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, there hasn't been a vast amount of anglers on Balderhead of late but its been fishing very well to the fly for those who've been prepared to walk and cover the water.
Very much the same as Cow Green as far as fish and tactics are concerned, with the average size of fish in Balder maybe slightly bigger but not much.
Floating line with dries or small black wets have been working well for the past few weeks.
