0.10 is 7X, snaps if you tug on it.

Maybe he is using very small dry flies , size 20 and under , fine 0.10 tippets give better presentation on small micro dry flies .

Most river anglers I know use tippets from 0.16 , 0.14 for general nymph work , maybe 0.12 if the rivers are low .

A lot of anglers I know of use tippet diameters between 0.12 and 0.10 for dry fly fishing , a few drop down to 00.8 on occasions . I am not suggesting you are using micro dries with 0.23 diameter tippets , that type of diameter is very big for river work . I am not nit picking , you did not state if you were fishing rivers or Still Waters .

Back to the OP , I use a identical set up most of the time , Hardy tapered leader 5/6 pound , 8 to 10 inch of 0.14 stroft , then 3 foot of Stroft ABR 0,10 , but I also use Grand Max Fluro in a diameter of 0.10

A 2 turn water knot is used to connect any tippets , I am sure John Tyzack and Andy Cliffe who are international anglers also use Hardy tapered leaders , Stroft tippets in the fine diameters and use a 2 turn water knot .

Of course it depends where and what you're fishing but 0.1 is extremely fine.

I was just curious as to why he went so light I wasn't suggesting that he use 0.23.

Yeh maybe he was? If he'd replied back we'd know then people could advise him better.

I didn't think you were nit picking i know that's not your thing
