    Default FlyTek Fly Fishing

Welcome to the new era of FlyTek!

I'm Dave Beddows and I am the new boss of the shop. Before you get worried Pat Stevens is still very much involved with FlyTek as technical advisor, is still available for technical advice over the phone and he will still be there to sell you things at all the usual shows. I have possibly met some of you at this years BFFI and if I seemed a bit uncomfortable with some questions I apologise, it was only because we couldn't say what was going on at that point or why I was actually there.

In effect I'm doing the things that Pat doesn't really want to - website, technology etc etc and he is now free to do the things (such as fishing obviously!) he enjoys doing much more. I on the other hand get to sit in a darkened industrial unit surrounded by mountains of fly tying materials and alternating between staring at a computer screen, desperately trying to
remember where everything is and visiting the Post Office.......not quite sure I've thought this through have I!

I have traded emails with Chief Editor Paul today and I am excited about being a Trade Member here, I don't expect it will be a huge sales thing BUT I think FlyTek need to be here just to support the community and to be avaiiable to answer any questions.

Pat Stevens and I will be at The Lowther Show on the 12th & 13th of August so if you're going please come and say hello.

Pat will be spending a fair bit of both days demonstrating his considerable fly tying skills on the stand while I do the selling so it will be well worth coming by for a look at least!

This month was a bit of an experiment to be honest...... but, I am happy to announce we are staying as trade members. I love forums as you get so much more information/advice than you would on Facebook etc AND you can even find it again! so why wouldn't we stay, it's a great forum.

I have spoken to Paul (Editor In Chief) and he is happy for a couple of us to post as 'FlyTek" and you may already have noticed that happening. Whenever we post though we will sign off with either Dave or Bill so you know who you've been talking to!

Pat and I will be at The Lowther Show all this weekend (and Bill will be there on Saturday) so if you are there please come and say hello, we would love to see you there.

The Lowther show was amazing, it was genuinely wonderful to meet so many interesting people and, although it was obviously a factor, selling things became almost a secondary consideration!

There was a remarkable young lady called Aimeé Kitching there tying some amazing flys considering she's only been doing it for about a year. She generated something of a buzz amongst the old hands on the fishing isle and I'm pleased to say that FlyTek are sponsoring her to the tune of a vice and, if we're at the same shows, some of our materials too. Hunt her out if you're at a show, she will almost certainly impress you

Things are obviously a bit upside down at the moment but we should be straight by about Thursday.

My tip of what's hot this year? Polar Bear fur, amazing stuff. As it's hollow (to keep the poor buggers warm obviously) when you hold it up to the light it almost sparkles. We have most colours available but I currently have Pat Stevens enticing one into his kitchen so he can dye it blue

I know this is a little random but....... if the gentleman who phoned us this morning enquiring about a vice is reading this could he phone us back please!? I said I would return your call once I had checked stock (and yes we do have what you were enquiring about!) but when I picked up the phone I realised you called from a private number and I now have no way of calling you back

Well to be honest it's nice to see that at least one person scrolls down the page past General Fishing Discussion so yes, of course
