Thread: Northumbria branch Fly Dressers Guild

I attended my first meeting at the Northumbria branch of fly dressers guild on Tuesday. I was made to feel very welcome by everyone there and had a really enjoyable evening. They were having a surprise fly tying competition, and although I didn't take part (my choice) it was facinating to see all the different types of fly made from the same 4/5 base materials.

Special mention to Phil Billbrough who spent at least 2hrs giving me 121 tuition on the basics of fly tying, and showing me a few handy hints and tips to get me started.

As a result I am joining the guild and already looking forward to next months meet.

Hi Jon, glad you enjoyed it! Don't miss this month's meeting, we have Paul Little tying for us and a free buffet. Paul is an awsome tyer, you will learn a lot, in fact we all will.

Hi Chukka, we meet at the Masons Arms, Dinnington, not far from the airport. Our next meet is there on Tuesday the 17th Oct 7.30pm. You're welcome to come along with no obligation to join. If you enjoy it and come back we would expect you to join. The Guild costs from £17 pa and our branch subs are £10 pa.
