Smile Ken Middlemist, last of the Hardy salmon fly dressers.

Ken very kindly sent a couple of flies after he did a demo for the Northumbria branch last year. I thought you might like to see them. Top is a Thunder & Lightning, below it is The Kate.

He ties entirely by hand without the aid of a vice. Nowadays, these fully dressed flies are tied for display purposes but back in the sixties, Ken was dressing them commercially for Hardy's in Alnwick as fishing flies, they sold for about 10/- each. Ken is tying them to the same standard with the same materials.

Google his name, there is a lot of info about him on the web.

Brilliant being able to tie dressed salmon flies without a vice.
You must lose a fly to catch a trout. George Herbert
