Back from a funeral of a chap who worked for my f-in-l on his farm. Ronnie started work at 14 and gradually worked his way up to becoming a tenant farmer. He died on 22 November aged 89. He smoked a pipe and enjoyed a pint all his life. At 80 he was walking daily for his morning paper.

Thanks Noel, the post can be a bit hit and miss this time of year.

Well today must be one of the wettest on record for this time of year its never stopped raining tomorrow is to be as bad. This will put the rivers up and unfishable. The reservoirs will benefit though.

The wife has lost the plot. On Friday she is taking our little grandchildren to Chester Zoo and its Christmas light show. Not only is she convinced she is going to Knowsley Safari Park on top of which she has lost the tickets. I've sent for the men in white coats.

Wet again. Not sure what the chances of the river being fishable by Wednesday is. I have an hour to spare.
Alban don't find the tickets and invite the grandchildren round instead.

Steve, Chester Zoo tickets recovered off the computer. Vanita had even deleted the confirmation of booking luckily I found it in the trash.

Had my toes and nails seen to this morning. They say there's no feelings in toe nails what a load of rubbish. Every time the clippers cut off a nail it went with a snap making me jump and the diamond dust nail file made me twitch and squirm with every stroke. I had steel probes under the nails and a scalpel cutting off dead skin. I recon a medieval torchurer passed on his skills to the modern day chiropodist. At the moment I'm in pain where cutting and probing took place.

Morning all, I forgot to mention that this weeks flies from my fly tying class were the Priest and the Kee Hee, both of which have hackles so my hackle thing is now much improved especially my selection of the best size of hackle to use.

Next week Iím told we will be doing the cats whisker. Somehow I donít think Iíll have a problem tying my favourite moggies!
