Called into Poundland and bought some embroidery scissors they will do for cutting wire etc when tying , also bought some heavy needles for making my own leader loops ; not a bad shop for bargains in the tying department of our hobby.

At last my run of blanks after pike is over. I only had a hour, that includes tackling up etc. First cast and wham. A croc eats my fly. Nice fish too.

Nice one Steve, it’s belly is nearly as big as mine.

Just back from the fly tying class. Used the new snowbee vice in its clamp set up rather than the pedestal I’m used to. It’s quite a bit higher off the table and I found it much easier to use! Only thing I didn’t like was the knurled nut to fasten the hook into the jaws. I much prefer my old vice for this which used a lever action.

Tonight the instructor went crazy. We covered yellow dancers, Kate mcclarens and Shipmans buzzers! He says from now on we’re going to cover three patterns a week!

Well done Steve N what a nice fish.
Earl when I was learning fly tying we did two patterns per night which was two hours with a break. Three sound feesable if the flies are not too complicated. The Kate McClaren is tricky as it is like a miniature salmon fly.
