    Happy Birthday Tom

New lure works really well. The Meranti Red Eye. Landed one lost one and had a huge fish follow twice. Happy days. What are the Lancsy Lads up to next? (Volume 2) 2018--img_20190619_145159-jpg

Blood test tomorrow followed by a stomach scan in the afternoon; No food for six hours before the scan so I'm not looking forward to an unpleasant sort of a day. It does improve I'm at the birthday party of my three year old granddaughter,Emmie, in the evening.

    Morning all
The vampires have taken blood three tubes and I'm waiting for the afternoon scan. The six hour fast feels Like being on hunger strike without a cause. I'm going to call in some restaurant on the way home and make up for lost eating time.

Despite the damp start the day has considerably improved and it's sunny and dry. The wife and I got up early to watch our 3 year old granddaughter open her birthday presents.. Gosh kids are spoiled today Emmie had about thirty presents to open and we were watching her for nearly two hours. In the 1940s I was lucky to get a present. I think it made me appreciate the value of things more and look after them. Her mother said Emmie would only play with half of them.

Finally managed to force myself down to the river for the first time this year. Fished flies for salmon without a nibble, but did see one leap, must have been at least 10lbs! Somewhat encouraged I tried my new spinning rod and reel. Again no luck but very pleased with the rod and reel which easily cast a good variety of differently weighted spinners!

Black Night it is the same at Christmas. What child today would be happy with Father Christmas bringing an orange with a sixpence stuck in it, possibly a book ( in my case Biggles or Arthur Ransom) If one was lucky a Cadbury Selection and an Airfix model or similar. Kids are spoilt
