Had my 1st 20lb pike earlier this year in a syndicate trout lake, was removed.20lb pike...-pike-20lb-1-jpg
Unfortunately I was in a float tube and the net was not big enough. Landed on 8lb line size 10 kamasan B175 mini lure on a 10' 5wt. Was not putting it in the tube with me !

Removed as in killed? 20lb pike... unbelievable that this still happens? Does your club stock non native species into the water and encourage its members to kill big old wild fish? Itís Like going back in time!! 20lb pike...
Pike do a lot of good for trout waters. They clean up dead and dying fish. If you remove all the big pike from youíre water you will end up with an explosion in the jack population. This has happened time and again in Ireland.
    Let wild fish be!!
    Rant over. 20lb pike...

Hi Jerry. Set up was Orvis hydros 9í#9 with my vision reel. Been using this set up a few years now and I like it. ( any 9í #9 would do ye.) I have had a bit of trial and error over the years with lines. Iíve settled on the vision big mamas. They do everything I want them to. Turn over big stuff and available in various sink rates. The best line on the day was the slomo but like most fishing it will no doubt be different on another day.
Flies, I tie my own. And just work my way through colours really. These fish were on flies with dragon tails. The pachiarrini ones. (sp)
Iím really enjoying my pike fly fishing at the moment and itís pretty much replaced my salmon fishing now.
Canít recommend enough that people give it a go.
