Does it matter? Some people may contribute for other than monetary reasons.

Kudos? That may be what FC is relying on. I think it does matter when someone is selling your writing, presumably to make a profit. You are offering your work for free.

I note FC has not replied, so I assume the answer to my question is no.

Perhaps some people write for reasons other than money. It is a new publication that is devoid of adverts, editorial, product placement and in my opinion, deserves some support.

Would you rather it was a clone of Trout and Salmon?

Financial arrangements between writers and editors are private. Would it improve the magazine if you knew the details? I think not.

I've just released a new podcast that I hope might be of interest that you can listen to by clicking here

Secret Angler, I'm afraid the discussions I have with contributors are, as I am sure you appreciate as a writer yourself, a private matter.

Bringing a new magazine in a shrinking marketplace, in a niche sector is a challenge but we are starting to get there. The motivation hasn't been money but our love of fly fishing. I ran a free, not for profit monthly online mag for 6 years and didn't earn one penny but it was wonderful to see it become a springboard for the writing careers of many people that also led to book deals. It is something I am extremely proud of.

Looking ahead though, we have had a simple plan: the more copies we sell, the more we'll pay contributors but you needn't worry, I'm not forcing people to write for us!

    Another interesting podcast Pete.
Keep up the good work and thank you.
Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught and the last river poisoned, will we realise, we cannot eat money.
