you have lost me with CK? and Rosque is a friend of mine, the fly tying was OK but the expected people didn't bother to turn up, easker1

Caught my first trout in Loch Tolliadh in 1978 - on an iron blue dun (of all things). Very happy memories of buying a ticket in the Wild Cat Stores, and fishing those wonderful waters. Especially of fishing Loch Marie in the days when the Moodie Sisters ran it - I remember my fist visit as a 20 year old - we went into the foyer in the early evening to see enamel trays of huge sea trout - 5lb and over displayed - mostly caught on the dap.
Even as a very inexperienced fly fisher I remember going out with the wonderful Mr McKenzie the Gillie and catching 15 sea trout up to 3 1/2lb in a day from the Slattadale beat. It was magical, watching Golden Eagles overhead, and seeing the fish jump. He was old then, and told us tales in the bar in the evening of when he had fished for herring in his youth, in the inner Minch in a sailing boat.
It's so sad that fish farming had ruined the sea trout runs - I have such happy memories of fishing with my father. One night we saw a pine martin - a very lucky sight. I can only home our kids can enjoy this one day when the runs recover, maybe.
