Unhappy greys platinum shoot fly line

A year ago I bought a 7wtF floating Greys platinum shoot line. Initially I was impressed by it. However, after only a year it has started to crack on the outer coating, despite having been regularly cleaned it and treated with line preserver. I would have hoped that a line from Greys would have lasted longer than that. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
I've replaced it with Maxcatch line that looks very good and for 5, if it only last a year - so what!

I have two of greys shooting heads and they're both ok, I have 2 maxcatch golds and a maxcatch sinking tip and those are good two (and collectively cheaper than 1 of greys).
There are two basic fly designs, those designed to catch fish and those designed to catch fishermen, the latter being the best seller

I bought the cheapest Maxcatch WF7 floating line with welded loops at 5.90. First impressions are good - smooth surface, no faults, low memory and first 30ft at 12g is spot on for the 7wt. I haven't tried it yet as I'm waiting for my Greys line to give up totally.

I have been using the same lines for past year can't fault them.clean often and they will cast very well.at that price you can't go wrong, have just bought a gold line from them seems to be an excellent line will use it in coming season.

I really like the original greys platinum excellent lines imo, last year I decided to try the shoot and I wasn't impressed with the finish quite lumpy and pimply, i don't think greys lines are quite what they used to be?

The maxcatch lines are excellent remind me of the old Shakespeare jobs . Cost you about 10 for a gold look no further imo.

The real gold is well worth the extra couple of pounds, i received one yesterday and its feels nice and smooth and very supple, a give away at 8.
