  Glasgow Angling Centre customer service

I would just like to say I have had a few problems with different products over the last year and feel that the angling centre couldn't do anymore to help. The last problem was a Greys Strata wading jacket which they just replaced there and then. No quibble at all. So credit where its due the staff...

I received an e mail from a member of the GAC's staff called Robert White in response to a query regarding the rod that I got from them last week.

He could not have been more friendly and helpful. Guideline have obviously caused GAC mega problems by not supplying them witn the rods that they ordered.

I had to return a pair of Simms waders due to the fit of them, I got a credit note for the 450. I went to the Edinburgh shop and seen Simms waders and boots for 350, the fkrs charged each item separately costing me 450 claiming I had already had a 40 discount, I pointed out that a 40 discount is costing me 90 but the manager said well there's nothing I can do. When I called the Glasgow store to explain they weren't interested at all either, I swore since then gac will never ever get another penny from me, active angling are in a different league with customer service both before and after sales they also do a price match👍
The waders and boots were not bought as a deal/package after choosing the waders the chap said I,d give you a discount on boots if you want to pick a pair, so be carefull when taking a discount from gac.

I recently bought a "pre-loved" rod from GAC. Which was described as as new and used once and also with original BAG and tube. Before ordering I phoned to query the bag as I have the same rod at a different weight which is supplied with a divided tube and no separate bag. (I firmly believe divided tubes are not fit for purpose with saltwater rods, so a separate bag was a plus point).
The person I spoke to checked and confirmed that the advert was wrong but was somewhat abrupt and dismissed my request for a separate bag from their "odd bags" box.
When the rod arrived it was not in as new condition, there being minor (but trivial) marks on the blank and significant scratching on the reel seat (worse than on any other rod I own), but more importantly there was corrosion on the stripping rings showing that though it may have only been used once it had not been properly washed after use.

I emailed GAC in reasonable terms suggesting that they should be more careful with their inspection of secondhand tackle and subsequent descriptions. I have had no reply of any kind to the email.

Today I received a wad of catalogues from GAC. In the past I had favourable experience of GAC, but now GAC do not seem to be a company that cares.

Orginal cormorant the trouble with your email to them is while venting your frustration. You frustrate the person on the gac side reading it lol. Basically their view probably is its used frankly you got a bargain dont moan about it. Its not a new rod so yeah the condition is very much in the eye of the beholder.

Secondly if they give you the nice waste of time email, Oh sorry sir yes we will check better next time. They have just admitted liability! So they can't win either way.!

The third option is you send the rod back and get a refund under distance trading rules. But as you already said the rod is functional do you really want to send it back and be tenner out of pocket for postage cause they won't refund postage?

When you buy online anything second hand cause you can't check it yourself, in my head I automatically give 20 % more damage to the item that way I am not disappointed. But that's just me. Obviously in your case your feel wronged. Gac is all about price was the item priced lower then else where and did you get a bargain if you did you still a winner.

The rougher a rod looks, the more valuable it is to a Glaswegian.

Icejohn, you are absolutely right I did feel wronged.
Having vented my frustration with the email to them I had dismissed it until they woke me up again with the pile of catalogues (4 of which were irrelevant to me), at which point I because they hadn't replied to my email I went public.
