    Uni-Mylar is #12 = 3/64" 14 - 1/32" and 16 = 1/69"
So #16 is fine for what you need.

Russ, is this "fine silver thread" flat/embossed flat tinsel or is it oval tinsel - which has been called silver thread before now & also uses a teens number system to define the size ?

How do you work that out, Jim? Russ didn't say what size hooks he was using or what flies he wanted to tie.

I suspect 14 is what you need!

If you order Uni-Mylar (what you already have, labelled '14') then the 14 will be fine for 10's and 12's. UTC in the same width is sized as 'SM' (small). Both are dual sided silver/gold. Use '16' for 14's and 16's.

Russ is doing the flies for the FDG Bronze award, the only one that stipulates 'fine silver tinsel' is the Black Pennel. To be tied on #10 to 14 hook. And talking to Russ earlier he mentioned he would be using #12.
It's also the size I used and it was acceptable to the examiner.
