Default SVV-280 Fly Tying vice from Fishing4Trout

I am looking at the above SVV-280 Fly tying vice on eBay from Fishing4Trout for 69.99.
This will be my first vice as dipping my toe in the fly tying world 😀
    Any good ?
Thank you in advance for any advice👍🏻

    Personally i wouldn't touch it.

If it is a basic hook holding vice you are after i would look at the weaver scottie, made in britain and a full back up service if anything goes wrong or you want it serviced in the future.

Having been tying for more years than I care to count, what strikes me is that I have never heard of these vices and hence would advocate caution before 'splashing the cash'.

Have a look here at the Snowbee Fly Mate for 49.99 . . .

How much is a Snowbee ? Prefer a pedestal as I have the perfect desk lighting set up, ie the misses make up/nail desk ☺️

There is a Snowbee fly mate at one place with a ball joint about 60 with postage
Is the ball joint worth paying the extra ?

If you do a search of the forum you'll quite a lot of negative comment about the ball joint version. 👍

Yep, the Snowbee is what I have (clamp version) and I've no complaints. For the price it is excellent; I can see where money goes on more expensive vices but for tying a variety of flies to catch fish with it does a great job

Yes,the Snowbee Flymate, not the balljoint one.The standard one is a great low cost vice, suitable for any hook .
