    Default Currently tying ammunition...

These are my scruffy bugs on Hanak H390BL size 18. Bead is 1.5mm to give you an idea of the gape. Appleby Olive dubbing for the body, burnt orange for the thorax area, Madeira Opal rib and a little UV black ice dub and squirrel behind the bead. I've popped these on FB, but thought I'd put them up on here too, as I've not posted for a while. I'm finding on my local stillwater that takes have been really confident on my small (18 and 20) emergers (same fly with cdc shuttlecock instead of bead). No swirls and refusals, just watch them come straight up and engulf the fly. I'm currently on a mission to fill my box with smaller stuff, hence I've just tied more of these.... forgive my attempt at being artistic.

Very nice , I have been using a very similar type of nymph for the rivers , will be tying some up as I still have some off the dubbing you kindly sent me .

Thanks for sharing Andrew , I can vouch its a killer pattern tied as follows or slightly different but similar , I use Argentinian Hare and a very small Mylar rib .

Just what buggy things should be like. For spiky dubbing you can't go far wrong with it. So lovely flies but you've made it easy for yourself by putting the hard work in creating the dubbing

    They look deadly.
    Very nice
Yes, I do heartily repent. I repent I had not done more mischief; and that we did not cut the throats of them that took us, and I am extremely sorry that you aren't hanged as well as we.

Brilliant a classic example of less is more. I wish I had the courage to fish smaller patterns. I have a friend on the Forum and his super neat boxes are full of delicately tied miniature flies and nymphs that catch fish. If he reads this he will know I'm referring to him.

    If it's 1p for the 14 flies I'll take a quid's worth. PM & address to follow.
2019 & it will be time for a change.
