Default trout fly ID please

picked this one up from the verge at a stillwater

great success till the Mother of all Rainbows straightened the hook

any clues ...?
I'll copy it but be nice to know

I put a flat tinsel body on, then palmer the hackle, then put a wire rib over it in the opposite spiral.

As Gedd says, it's lost its tail, and its been tied both with jungle cock substitute and, I think from the look of it, bronze mallard substitute (usually barred flank dyed brown).

Some folk tie a Dunkeld with just a throat hackle. This one from Google images...

It has the correct tail (golden pheasant crest), wing (bronze mallard), and cheeks (jungle cock).

I tied this variant using organza for the palmered hackle...

I tie them with just a throat hackle but quite like the palmered version too.

Best Buy some better hooks. Tiemco have proved my favorites over my years of guiding.
