    Default How Many Materials ?

    How Many Materials ?-300a5099-edit-jpg

    JUST ONE:
    Abdomen: Organza (Brown)
    Gills: Organza (White & Black)
    Wing Buds: Organza (Cream)
    Thorax: Organza (Tan)
    Thorax Cover: Organza (Black)

OK, so I got bored. The river’s been out of condition, I haven't been fishing for over a week and I’m beginning to get a touch of cabin fever. Still it shows what you can do with a single material, even if some people do hate it.

Nice fly Nick, but I am going to be picky. You have used five different colours of the one material, epoxy and thread.

The only one material fly I can think of at the moment is the copper wire bug or whatever it is called, Oliver Kite pattern?

I have buzzers made out of red wire and nothing else unless you count a coat of Hard as Nails.

OK, all depends on how you count. BTW it's not epoxy, just several applications of hard-as-nails.

As I said I was being picky. One type of material certainly, taking out thread and varnish. A tequila blob the same, orange blob one.
    I will stop digging now.

I do actually have a one material fly that I use, provided you don't count the hook, a simple buzzer of just tying thread, oops forgot the wax, damn.

Bare hook nymph, just copper wire on a hook.
I have caught a fish on just a hook. So it was a perch!

    just thread
Poor quality materials and tools are destined to discourage beginner tiers and cause greater expense when the time comes to replace them.
