Default One for the Fry bashers

I've tied this primarily with Pike and Perch in mind but it may be useful for the salty stuff/ big Brownies at the back end.

It is a relatively easy fly to tie. My chosen thread is Dyneema for its strength and lack of bulk. The hook is a Partridge Ad Swier black nickel size1.

Step 1 - Form a bed of thread along the shank of the hook and give a coat of superglue to prevent slippage of the dyneema.

Step 2 - Tie in a 3" length of white magnum zonker strip by stripping 5mm of fur from the skin. Bind down hard to secure and give it a blob of glue to strengthen. Tie off and remove your thread at this stage.

Step 3 - Slide a 1.5" length of medium mylar along the shank towards the tail. Fan out the mylar wraps over the tail a little. Re-introduce your thread and secure the mylar.

Step 4 - Take a generous hank of white pearl glister or similar, double it over and catch in on top of the shank with 5 strong wraps. Trim the excess and add this on the underside of the shank. Whip finish and remove the thread.

Step 5 - Use a heat gun on a low setting to GENTLY melt the glister into a nice head shape. Add your prismatic or googly eyes with melt glue or epoxy.

    The finished Roach Fry........
