    Default CDC Buzzer

This is a neat idea for presenting a buzzer to fish feeding on buzzers just subsurface. The fly itself being tied seperately from the CDC wing - to sit just below the surface film rather than in it. Not a new idea but one that some of you guys may not have tied or fished before. Give it a go. Apologies for the inconsistency of the pics!

    Hook - Partridge 15BN Klink-hammer size 14.
Thread - Black UTC70 for the 'fly', White 17/0 Uni for the wing
    Body - Black tying thread
    Rib- Fine silver wire
    Breathers - white antron
Thorax cover - brown body stretch
    Thorax - Fiery brown squirrel

Catch your thread in at the halfway mark along the shank. At the same point catch in a 2" length of white antron followed by a 2" length of fine silver wire. Wind the thread down well into the hook bend, bedding the materials down neatly to avoid any unsightly bumps.

Wind the thread back up to the start point - again taking care to wind a nice level body. Follow with the silver wire to create your rib. Trim the breather (tail) to a short stub.

Next catch in your body stretch - facing towards the eye of the hook.

Dub a nice thorax in your choice of material, working towards the hook bend. I like a red colour for emergers. Next step is to bring the body stretch over the thorax and secure with a whip finish. Trim the breathers and coat the fly with hard as nails or similar - not too much....it needs to float!

The final step is to catch on your fine thread at the eye and tie in 3 or 4 CDC plumes (dependant on fly size). Trim and whip finish.

    Give it a whirl

That is an excellent method to create a suspender buzzer.

Better not let richardw catch you using it!

Great fly Dougie, will have to tie a few but will have to watch hook size and overall length for comps.
I've not lost my mind, it's backed up on a disk somewhere.

It's ok but a lime green version is better for Millhall

    Wullie,

I got mine from GAC but you can pick up similar threads like Dyneema and spiderwire etc quite readily from the likes of Lakeland and Celtic flycraft etc.
