    Default One Hackle Emerger

    Hook: Kamasan B170
    Body: Waterhen body feather.
    Thread: Benecchi 12/0 Black.

Start thread and run down to tie in point.

    Take one Waterhen body feather.

Remove the fluff after the longest fibres.

Tie in by the tip, this is best done by tying in at the bare butt and pulling through to the tip.

To lock in take one wrap under the tip and the next over the top.

    Take thread back to eye.

Wrap feather up shank, when you get to the long fibres sweep them back to form the hackle. Tie off but don't trim the stalk yet, take another couple of tight wraps around it.

Trim butt and whip finish. You can trim any stragglers on the body, I usually leave them on.

Fish it with spiders or with a dry NZ style.

Quick and scruffy, just how I like them.

    Tango,

I like it. Half a CDC&Elk, with CDC substitution

    Cheers,

I had been using just the main feather as a Heron substitute, but the long fluff was screaming FLYMPH at me. Your technique for the cdcelk body lent itself (pinched entirely ) perfectly.
