    Default Splott Shrimp

I've used UV-resin in the past for fly tying, but never really come up with a pattern where it gave any benefit over using varnish and some patience. However recently I've been experimenting with it again and have come up with some new patterns where using UV-resin in the construction enables creating effects which would just not be possible with varnish or epoxy resin. The Splott Shrimp is the first of these patterns. Using UV-resin to bond together different layers and colours of organza ribbon allows the finished body to have internal structures and transparency that are characteristic of the natural shrimp. Thanks for watching.

Do you favour one particular UV resin? Some that I've used remain a little tacky.

I use Fulling Mill resin, takes about 20 seconds to go tack free. Key is to have reasonably fresh batteries in the torch.
