    Default Hare's ear Midge.

This midge works really well on rivers and still waters.

    Hook: Mustad Dry R30 #18
    Thread:Black 8/0
    Dubbing: Hares ear
    Hackle: Hackle of your choice.
    Wing post: Polypropylene floating yarn.

This fly can be tied with almost anything, As long as the hackle has a darkish colour the fish will never stay away from it. On a good day i have had up to 20 fish on one of these. Instead of hare's ear try some seals fur, Black seals fur and black hackle is a deadly way of tying it too and catches loads of fish.

    1.Start the thread.

2.Tie in your wing post and apply some varnish to it to keep it from losing its shape.

    3. Dub your body with hares ear.

    4. Tie in your hackle.

    5. Give your hackle 2-4 turns around with wing post and tie your hackle off at the eye of the hook.

Here is the size of the fly.

This fly is really deadly when fish are feeding on buzzers and emergers. Green, black and red game are the best hackles to use. Make sure you match the body colour with the hackle. Just try tying it in all different ways until you catch enough fish

    Hope this help.

Ignore the barracking son. Listen to people who give you sensible advice, and just ignore the rest.

US i hope you were not talking about me then

I never ever put people down on this forum and always avoid the **** that gets written on some of the threads.

I asked if he nothing else to do and put smileys there as he has put up a few good step by steps.

    Hi Cromie -

Looks good to me. Nice bushy hackle. Why no dubbing on the thorax? I find this is essential to get the right surface profile.

Also, this should be labeled as a parachute hare's ear - because thats what it is - even if it is midge sized.
