    Default Slinky DNA Baitfish.

A generic Baitfish pattern for you. It doesn't have a proper name, just a selection of ideas borrowed from other flies. A stronger profile is created by using body braid as a spreader. Just tie it in different lengths to match the 'hatch' of Whitebait, Brit or Smelt.

    Hook: Standard saltwater O'Shaunessy.

    Thread: Mono.

    Body: E-Z Body.

    Tail: Slinky Fibre.

    Belly: Slinky Fibre.

    Throat: Red holographic tinsel.

    Wing: Olive DNA Holofusion.

    Eyes: Tape eyes

Step 1: Start thread halfway along shank. Slide E-Z body 0ver shank at secure at this point.

Step 2: Attach a tail of Slinky Fibre and tie off thread.

Step 3: Slide E-Z Body back over hook shank and re-attach thread at eye.

Step 4: Tie down end of E-Z Body at head. This is the spreader complete.

Step 5: Invert hook and attach Slinky Fibre at head to form belly. Make sure hair is evenly spread around 180 degrees.

Step 6: Tie in a throat of 4 short starnds of red tinsel.

Step 7: Return fly to the right way up and attach a wing of DNA Holofusion at the head.

Step 8: Attach tape eyes, tie off thread and finish with a couple of coats of varnish or some epoxy.

Step 9: Taper hairs at tail of fly. If you don't have taperizing scissors you can fan the tail out between thumb and finger and snip away with normal scissors.

    The finished fly:
