    Default Hot Cheek Buzzer

Hook: 10-16 lightweight grub (the ones used here are Hayabusa size 12)
    Thread: Standard black
    Rib: Fine silver wire
Eyes: Model paint (yellow, green, white, orange or pink)

This is a simple to make buzzer (although the varnishing takes time), very effective and perfect for fishing beneath an inline fly:

The body is kept short, and the eyes are painted with fluoro model paint as shown:

    Step 1:
Attach the thread at the eye

    Step 2:
Secure in a section of fine silver wire, wind down the shank until parralel with the hook point,

    Step 3:
Wind the thread back up to the eye, wind the silver wire up in neat turns, secure, whip/hitch finish.

    Step 4:
At that point give the body one coat of varnish.

    Step 5:
Paint the eyes using the model paint, once dry, give the entire fly a further one or two coats of varnish.

    Regards,
    Terry

They say that the simpler, the better and in this case it looks to be very effective.

The paint you used is available from art shops?

Will have to try this one soon, thanks for the step by step, Terry.

    Hi,

You should be able to get the model paint from any art/craft store.

Here is a further photograph from the top, and a white/red version (the red colar is just red tinsel).

Thanks for this Terry I have tied up a few of these shorter buzzers over the last few days and have been hammering fish on them.

    That's great news Adrian.

It's surprising how finicky the trout can be, the white version with the red collar has been catching fish right across the North of England for a couple of years now, however, whenever I fish Stocks Reservoir in Lancashire they won't go near the white one, but pick the green cheeked version out every time.

    Terry

    Default Cheek buzzer.

Here is one of my buzzers. It is easy to tie and catches plenty of fish.
