Have a look at these on ebay

and
360427107662I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't.

Re: Beach casting/Sea fishing.
When you get to Devon in the summer there will be a few Bass around. They like flys and lures so you could try a bit of both. I know a few marks handy for bass. Do you know where you are going in Devon?

Christy, I know the wife has told me but I can't remember.
I'll ask her when I get in and let you know.

Re: Beach casting/Sea fishing.
Although you don't need a licence to fish in the sea, there are byelaws and regulations that you need to be aware of e.g. the legal Minimum Landing Size below which you have to return any undersized fish you catch.
Most of the relevant byelaws can be found on the website of the Inshore Fishing and Conservation Authority for the region you are fishing.
Links to each IFCA can be found at: Association of IFCA
(The one for Devon is Welcome To Devon & Severn IFCA : Devon Sea Fisheries Committee )

Re: Beach casting/Sea fishing.
Oh dear Torrington, you've obviously not been there before
Only jokingBit to far down for the places I know. However, I notice the Torridge runs close to Torrington, that is definately worth investigating.
Couple of links you may find interesting:

Re: Beach casting/Sea fishing.
The flies shown will work as will the toby's and red gill mentioned but repalla's and plugs are the top lures down this end.
live sand eel, sand eel, lug worm, rag worm, mackeral strip and peeler crab being the baits to go for. if bait fishing get bait elastic to keep it on.
