Default Loch fitty?

Anyone still fish loch fitty? I've been up a few times and seen fry and roach jumping about aswell as a fair few decent rises both in close to the reeds aswell as open water. I know there are good pike to be had aswell as perch and roach.

Has anyone heard of any recent news? I know about the opencast plans and i've kind of challenged myself to catch out of it before the work starts!

Could be hard though seeing as last time i went up there were 2 boys with 13 rods out!!! Couldnt speak english either so they couldnt help me!

Theres bound to be some big resident trout cutting about in there!!

That'll be Eastern Europeans emptying the place then.
My dad and I fished it for pike a few years ago just after the fishery shut down.
We were using pike lures and my dad caught a cracker of 25lb in front of the cages.
I would imagine the neds plus the cormorants have taken there toll on the remaining fish stocks by now.

aye , pretty sure they were polish. I was speaking to an old guy that walks his dog round the loch regularly and he said that some big fish had come off (and returned)from that same area , he said he witnessed one pike being weighed at 18.5lbs!

The cages didnt survive the last heavy winds , they are now all broken up having drifted down to the burn bay.

I have tried briefly for pike with lures for an hour a time with no luck , but never targetted trout. The last time i went up for a proper look the water was like glass and hand on heart there were loads of good rises on the main loch.

I have only seen neds fishing the bait pond and specimen pond. The polish folk were the only people fishing the main loch and only for pike aswell as one guy one evening targetting perch (who claimed his son caught a 4lber the week previous!? made it sound believable too!)
