Rub ice around joints - this may help you pull them apart. Or maybe very warm water on the female section as this may expand it slightly enough to pull apart.

Bicycle tube rubber, cut in lengths and wrapped around joints before pulling apart. Some gentle twisting can help but not violent twisting.

Dont, ever, pull apart at an angle - broken rod will be the result!

Once you get them apart, rub some wax on the male ferrule to ensure this doesnt happen again.

Best of luck and hope this helps

Two big blokes, both wearing marigolds (further clothing optional).
